October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. About 1 in 8 women U.S. women and 1 in 1,000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
Breast cancer awareness is one of the largest, most widely acknowledged health causes in the nation. This month-long campaign is held annually with the goal of increasing awareness and education about this disease.

These events help support many breast cancer awareness organizations, including those furthering research to find a cure, providing life-saving education and information and offering support and care to those in need.
